Morocco has the best road infrastructure of the Maghreb.
Trunk roads are in good condition but narrow and with intense traffic. Touring roads (Fes, Merzouga, Ouarzazate, Taroudant, Agadir, Marrakech… etc) are well-kept.
Road network develops and a motorway between Casablanca and Marrakech will open at the end of 2007.
On the other hand, tracks which connect the main roads are in bad condition (area of Ouarzazate, Asni, col of Tichka). The Casablanca-Marrakech and Casablanca-El Jadida roads are dangerous.
Moroccans are famous for not respecting much the highway code. Be careful and avoid driving by night. Cars are often in very bad conditions and speed excesses are frequent.
On motorway pay attention to stone projections on vehicles from the bridges: on the Rabat-Casablanca motorway (on the part between Put-Aïn Sebaa and Casa Anfa exits) and on the motorway junction to avoid Casablanca, between Mohammedia and Casa-Nouaceur airport particularly by night.
Respect speed limits. Since two years there are more and more speed machines on roads.
