Driving in Namibia

When we leave the main road network (with many tolls because it has been privatized), Namibia roads are often very dusty of which adherence is comparable with driving on snow. Any blow of wheel or abrupt braking can badly finish. It is highly advised not to exceed 80km/h on these tracks and to fasten your seat belt (which is compulsory).

Avoid driving by night because it is very dangerous. Roads condition can cause you frights without speaking about the possible meeting with a wild animal of big size.

Some regions are desert. Think to take always water and fuel reserves with you and a second spare wheel. Travel preferably with two cars. On dusty roads, switch your headlights on in order to be seen by the other motorists.

Always take care to wild animals and slow down immediately if you see one of them because they are totally unpredictable.
