Driving in Canada

Canada is a huge country. Its 900,000 km of roads form a road network highly developed and well-kept, offering an ideal mean to discover the country. Canadian people respect the highway code and are rather cool and courteous when driving.

The majority of the motorways are free.

Canadian climate is harsh. From October to April you should expect to have difficult weather conditions with snow and very low temperatures. Snow tires required !

Subscribing a comprehensive insurance and redemption of excess is a good idea because Canadian people do not hesitate to go to courts in the event of accident with a third party.

In winter some roads can be completely closed to the traffic: it is announced by roadsigns with flashing lights. Never exceed this prohibition because you could find yourselves in a difficult situation and very isolated.

In North Canada the population density is very low and you are likely to have problems to find fuel. Be aware and do not hesitate to stock up: the next station is perhaps 100 kilometers far!
