Driving in Denmark

The road network is in good condition, developed and with an international roadsign. Motorways are free except two main bridges letting to reach the country: Oresund and Storebaelt. It can be less expensive to take a ferry.

As in the others Scandinavian countries lighting low beams is obligatory during the day. And the police is very strict regarding the car condition and the non respect of the highway code.

Denmark is the other paradise of bicycle with Holland. Downtown cyclists are numerous and have the right of way on crossroads: be careful!

Pedestrians have also the right of way even if they are engaged or not on a zebra crossing.

On motorway it is obligatory to indicate your intention to pass a car by calling headlights. In 2004 speed limits has been fixed to 130km/h instead of 110km/h previously but controls are therefore more intense. Keep an eye on roadsigns.
