Driving in Norway

Norway offers a road network of quality with a clear international roadsign. The country counts many mountain roads of which some can be entirely closed in winter. Get Information in advance.

In winter expect sometimes serious weather conditions. Snow stays on large roads. They are just rammed with a gravel film.

Be aware of the right of way from the right. Some crossroads have been made without any good sense and even if you are on the main road (crossroad in T) you have to give way to others vehicles.

To enter some cities you will have to pay toll. It is the case of Oslo, Trondheim et Bergen. Prepare around 10 to 15 NOK.

Norway has the lowest blood alcohol content limit of the Western Europe with 0.2g/L. Forget therefore the Aquavit or return in sledge!

Police controls are frequent and strict. Do respect the highway code because fines have to be paid on the spot.
