Main cities are connected with large roads: free tolls motorways (autopista) and 4-lane roads (autovia).
Do respect 100km/h especially on the 4-lane « autovia ». In the event of a control, fines are high and foreigners have to pay immediately in cash.
Spanish are easy-going: be particularly vigilant on week-ends when people leave pubs and nightclubs. Lorries traffic is heavy in Spain: be careful. Outside main roads, tracks are very dusty and do not have a good adherence.
It is common in Spain to indicate its intention to pass by a brief horn (during the day) or a call of headlights by night. In this case the vehicle which is going to be passed is supposed to confirm that the way is free by putting its right indicator.
